RoomMakeover is a free AI room design tool: upload a photo of your room and get a photorealistic redesign in about 30 seconds, while your existing furniture stays exactly where it is.
Why we built it
Most AI room apps hand you a showroom that isn't your home. We read hundreds of app-store reviews of existing tools and found the same complaints again and again: furniture replaced when people asked for decor, no way to change just one wall, colours that never came out right, and billing tricks like virtual gems and hidden daily caps.
Every RoomMakeover feature traces back to one of those complaints:
- Keep-my-furniture mode locks every piece in place; only decor, colour and lighting change.
- Paint-to-select editing redraws only the area you brush over.
- 24 real paint tones instead of an RGB slider. In our accuracy test, a requested hex of #3D5A47 rendered within 1.3% of the target.
- Honest billing: 3 free renders, no credit card, and failed renders never cost credits.
How it works
Renders run on OpenAI's gpt-image-2 image editing model, steered by our own room-preservation prompting layer. We benchmarked the model's quality tiers on identical rooms and found the expensive tier cost 12.6× more without scoring better on detail, so every render, free or paid, uses the same best setting.
